                  Remote recording is so fun!

And a bit stressful, but such a rush when it all works.

This was the setup Bill Maylone and I used to record James Stephenson’s Symphony No 3 “Visions” with the Lake Forest Symphony. 32 tracks.

You can hear the result here.

Live recording is Stressful but invigorating. I recorded Chesky Jazz at Town Hall live Direct to 2 track. 6 groups (or more, I’d have to count) followed each other on stage one after the other all night. I worked an 8 input mixer sitting offstage wearing my Stax headphones! Rehearsal in the afternoon, marking all the pots and taking copious notes. Then reset while the musicians changed to the stage, stagehands readjusting whatever mikes had to be changed position, and then minor tweaks (hopefully) during that groups portion of the concert. I’m still high from that experience.
