My comments are:
Hello,
I really enjoyed the info on your site.
Do you know of any software manufacturers that make a PC based mastering software? I'm using Cakewalk and Im trying to find a program that will "analyze" my recordings
(EQ , Mix Compression etc... and be able to apply an overall Mastering to my wav files before burning them to a CD. I know this isnt the Optimum way of doing this, but if you have heard of a software that simulates this please contact me.
Thanks in advance
Gerard
Dear Gerard:
Thanks for your comments. There are no shortcuts to a good master. There are boxes that have "wizards" that purport to come up with a good result, but sonically, the end result is white bread. Are you looking for a great sound? Are you really looking for airline food? Is this why you are in the business? "Generic" settings produce "generic" sound. Believe me, there is no machine that can produce what a gifted, crafted engineer can do.
My best suggestion to understand the issues you're trying to overcome is to read my booklet "The Secret of the Mastering Engineer", which you can find on the home page at Digital Domain. Take a read and write me back with your reactions. How's that?
Bob
