First, Bob will play examples of some of his own minimalist-miked audiophile recordings and reveal how they were made. • The Raw and the Cooked: You will have the rare opportunity to hear examples of raw mixes and the masters that they became. Good mixes that were turned into great masters, poor mixes that were turned into good masters, as well as good mixes that were turned into poor masters and why and how that occurred.
  • Bring your mixes for evaluation and to see how they might be mastered
  • How to assemble different musical styles of record albums
  • Mastering techniques, assembly of albums and PQ coding
  • Preparation, proofing and shipping of DDP masters, production of reference copies totally via FTP
  • Restoration: The latest techniques to clean up noises, reduce hiss and buzz
  • Dynamics Processing: How and why we choose processes such as compression, expansion, the most efficient way to ride gain. How to restore impact of a song or album when a remix is not possible

  • Specialized mastering techniques: E.G. How to bring a loud vocal down when no stems have been provided and a remix is not possible. Reducing distortion. Bass, the Final Frontier. Specialized tools. How to cut two hours out of your day by using efficient tools and techniques.
  • From "demo" to "delivery", how we get there from here!
  • A special Certificate of Attendance will be given to all attendees
  • The seminar will be given in English

Learn all about the radical changes now happening in production and distribution of broadcast, film and music as a consequence of new ITU and EBU standards. This compact, knowledge-boosting seminar is large enough to gather some of the industry's most influential speakers, yet personal enough that exchange of information and experience is facilitated. Seminars are strictly focused on technology, not on products.

The groundbreaking and comprehensive EBU R128 loudness recommendation is investigated from a multitude of angles, while only a few weeks earlier, ITU's loudness standard, BS.1770, will have been updated. The consequences of this update will also be evaluated and put into practical perspective.

Italy was an early mover on loudness-based transmission procedures and legislation, so the Eternal City will play an obvious host to an international assembly of audio professionals. The event takes place in a beautiful old building with fine acoustics in central Rome; the Auditorium della Discoteca di Stato. It's within walking distance of the great plazas, Pantheon, Forum Romanum, Trastevere, Colosseum, Fontana di Trevi, etc.

Welcome to an event that is guaranteed to be a feast for all senses.
